Sakki (Godan/5th Dan) Test Instructions

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must have held the rank of yondan (4th dan) for at least one year by the date of the test.

  • You must submit a copy of your yondan certificate issued by the Hombu office.

Submission Guidelines:

Include the following information:

  • Full Name

  • Date you received your yondan rank

  • Name of the teacher who awarded you the rank

  • Scan of your yondan certificate in high quality, readable in Japanese without blurring when enlarged.

Note: Only certificates issued by the Hombu office will be accepted. All certificates will be verified with the office prior to the Taikai.

Additional Preparations

Prepare a passport-sized photo to submit in the event that you pass the test.

Ensure you have the correct amount of money (in Japanese yen) for:

  • The godan certificate fee

Optional items such as:

  • Shidōshi license

  • Wappen (dōgi patch)

  • Lapel pin

Order forms will be available at the Taikai. If you are unsure of the current prices, contact the organizers privately to avoid misinformation.

Submission Deadline:

All submissions must be made one month prior to the Taikai: no later than October 15th (by the end of your local time zone).
